Have you found a favourite piece of music that is featured on the LISTEN pages? One of my favourites is the Voluntary in D Minor by the English composer John Stanley. It is featured on LISTEN 2

Why is it a favourite of mine? Well, this performance by Jeffery Hall is full of fun, and his supplementary notes are amusing and informative. Read for yourself about an unfortunate incident that occurred to John Stanley at the age of two. Listen to the stately ‘Adagio’ played on diapason pipes and lasting just over a minute. What happens next should be a surprise, even if you have never heard this style of music before..

Listen to John Stanley’s Voluntary in D Minor, with notes and performance by Jeff Hall. You may be inspired to listen to more pieces from the BinAural Collaborative Hypertext (BACH) multimedia showcase, project design by Tim Smith, Northern Arizona University.
